Throughout the year the Church has invested in crops and vegetables for the consumption of it’s growing community. Last December, corn, pumpkin, potato, cucumber and gourd was planted on church property in Pongro and Teuk Thla Village.
This January, the rice crops that were planted by the students last October are ready for harvesting. The students in De Nobili Center came to take what was left last weekend.
A total of 700 kilograms of grain yield was harvested from 2 hectares worth of land, a very small amount compared to what was expected. Most of the crops were damaged because of the flooding that beset the region from November-December last year.
These activities are aimed to develop the sustainability of the initiatives of the Church as it expands it’s reach to people who most need it.
