Medical Outreach Program Held in Sisophon

Last September 5-6, a group of Australian and Cambodian volunteers headed by Dr. Mark Johnson from Western District Health Services in Victoria, Australia visited Banteay Meanchey Province for a medical outreach program.

The team composed of 4 volunteers from Australia as well as their Cambodian counterparts and conducted medical check-ups, distributed prescriptions and free medicines to residents of Serei Saophoan’s Sophy and Daillo Villages. They were able to reach an estimated 50 and 150 patients in each village respectively. The medical check-ups were held the whole day and was open to all who came.

“We are very happy that they came and helped the people.” Fr. Rajat Purti, Catholic Priest of St. Francis Xavier Church located in Sophy Village shared. “We hope to have more programs like this in the future.” The outreach was also a result of cooperation between the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang and the Sisophon Parish.
